Type of Springs GD Fastenal Manufacturing
In the field of fasteners, springs are primarily categorized into six types: Helical Springs(include compression spring, extension spring and torsion spring), Belleville Disc Spring, Wave Springs & Wave Washers(include single-turn wave spring, multi-turn wave spring and wave spring washers), Spring Lock Wahsers(include Standard Helical Spring Lock Washer, Saddle Spring Washer and Heavy-duty Spring Lock Washer), Circlips & Snap Rings (Elastic Retaining Rings), Stamped Elastic Springs & Special Elastic Components. They are widely used for bolt preload and anti-loosening, axial positioning, clearance compensation, and shock absorption.
Springs are structurally designed and customized according to practical mechanical assembly and working condition requirements. Different types of springs possess unique mechanical properties to adapt to diverse load modes.Tension Springs and Compression Springs are most widely used in mechanical and daily scenarios.

Compression Springs
Compression springs are the most mainstream elastic components specialized in bearing continuous axial pressure. They are manufactured with reserved gaps between coil turns, allowing stable compression deformation and effective elastic rebound under axial load. This structural design enables them to maintain consistent stiffness, excellent pressure resistance and reliable fatigue resistance during long-term cyclic compression. Widely applied in mechanical equipment, fastener connection systems, daily hardware and industrial precision structures, they are primarily used for bolt pre-tightening, component supporting, mechanical resetting and pressure buffering.
Applications: Bolt pre-tightening, assembly gap compensation, mechanical reset structure.

Tension Springs
Tension springs, also known as extension springs, are core elastic parts optimized for bearing axial tensile force and elastic recovery. Different from compression springs, their coils are tightly wound without gaps in the free state, and they rely on tensile deformation to generate uniform and stable rebound force. Equipped with various hook structures at both ends for convenient installation and clamping, these springs feature high tensile sensitivity, stable elastic recovery performance and strong deformation reset capability. They are predominantly adopted in mechanical reset mechanisms, tension clamping systems and automatic rebound structures.
Applications: Mechanical tensioning, automatic component resetting, elastic clamping and pulling structures. They are universally used in general machinery, daily hardware and automation equipment, with limited application in standard static fastener locking assemblies.

| Fastener Spring Type | Compression Spring, Extension Spring, Torsion Spring, Belleville Disc Spring, Wave Springs,Wave Spring Sashers, Spring Lock Wahsers, Circlips & Snap Rings, Stamped Elastic Springs & Special Elastic Components. |
| Size | Wire diameter (thicker wire means a stronger spring, so just go with what force you need), outer diameter (has to fit the space where you’ll put the spring), free length (how long the spring is when it’s not being pushed or pulled), and total coils (this affects how much the spring can stretch or compress). |
| Material | Pick from stuff like carbon steel (great for regular, everyday use—tough enough to last), stainless steel 316 (total pro at fighting rust, perfect if it’s gonna be in humid spots or around chemicals), or titanium alloy (lightweight but surprisingly strong, ideal for gear that needs top performance). |
| Surface Treatment | We offer a full range of professional surface treatment options to enhance spring performance and durability. Electrophoresis treatment forms a smooth, uniform protective coating on spring surfaces, making it ideal for indoor mechanical equipment applications. Powder coating delivers exceptional toughness and superior scratch resistance, perfectly suited for springs equipped on outdoor tools and exposed machinery. Nickel plating effectively strengthens rust and corrosion resistance while creating a sleek, neat surface finish, which is the optimal choice for precision mechanical equipment springs. |
| Other Special Requirements | We also accommodate all kinds of customized special requirements to suit your unique application scenarios. This includes temperature-resistant springs that can withstand extreme high and low temperatures, applicable for industrial ovens, freezing equipment and other harsh working environments. We also support custom brand-matching colors and irregular special-shaped spring designs, perfectly tailored to your exclusive equipment and personalized design demands. |
Where Springs Actually Applied to
Choose the right spring isn’t just about matching force and stretch—it’s what keeps the whole machine safe, running smooth, and from breaking down too soon.As a springs manufacturer in China, the springs we produce can be used in many fields. GD Fastenal springs are widely used in different fields, such as Industrial, Auto, Motorcycle, Electronics, Electric power, Toys, Sports goods, Machinery equipment, etc.
